All tools/PDF Merge

Put twenty things into one PDF, in the order you choose.

WHY YOU WOULD INSTALL IT

You have done this a hundred times.

  1. Open a browser
  2. Find a merger
  3. Upload every file
  4. Reorder them there
  5. Wait
  6. Download it
  7. Move it back

Ricly puts that one in the menu that is already under your cursor. Select the files, right-click, set the order, merge. A contract with a scan of your ID never goes near someone else’s server.

SUBTITLED

The order is the whole job.

Every online merger sorts your files and hopes. Ricly shows you the pages first, because a merge in the wrong order is a document you have to redo.

Thumbnails you can drag

The picker opens with the files in natural name order — page2 comes before page10, the way you meant it. Drag any card to move it, then press Merge.

Not just PDFs

Images become one page each. Word, ODT, RTF, plain text, HTML and Markdown are converted on the spot. Every PDF you include contributes all of its pages.

A name that says what it is

The result is merged-4-pdfs-2026-09-10.pdf, next to the first file you selected. Sortable by date, and you can tell at a glance what it was.

Nothing is ever overwritten

A second merge the same day becomes merged-4-pdfs-2026-09-10-a.pdf, then -b. Ricly never replaces a file that already carries the name.

Same job. No round trip.

Merging is the job people most often hand to a random website, usually with the exact documents they should not be uploading. Counted the same way, once your account exists.

macOS has its own, in one move fewer, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Select the files, right-click, Create PDF — it sits in the menu already, it is free, and for images already named in the right order it is the correct answer. Our third move is the picker, and it is the whole point. Three things separate the two. It gives you no say in the order: it follows the Finder sort and you find out afterwards. It is particular about what you feed it, and it does not say so: select a text file, a PNG and a WebP together and the item is simply not in the menu, with nothing to explain the absence. Ours opens the picker on that same selection, and on Word documents, RTF and Markdown notes as well. And it drops the result with a name you did not choose. The picker exists for the times the order matters and the sources are mixed. If neither is true, use the one Apple gave you.

Some documents should never be uploaded.

A contract, an ID, a medical form. The merge happens on your Mac, so the question of what a website keeps never comes up.

You came for one tool. 16 more come with it.

PDF Merge is not an app you install. It is one item in a menu that also carries 16 others — same download, same account, nothing extra to set up.

13 are free, 4 are Pro. They install themselves as they ship, so the menu grows without you doing anything. Compress PDF will shrink the result before you send it, and Upload & Share will give you a link when it is still too big for mail.

5 merges a month

A merge is one run, whatever the number of files in it. The count resets at the start of each calendar month.

  • Twenty files in one merge still counts as one.
  • The same picker, the same conversions, the same output as Pro.
  • No watermark, no page limit, no sign-up wall on the result.
  • A free account is required, an email address is enough.

Questions people actually ask.

Can I choose the page order?

That is the point of the tool. The picker opens with your files in natural name order and you drag the thumbnails until it is right. Press Enter to accept what is proposed.

What can I put in a merge?

PDFs, JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF, GIF and BMP, plus Word, ODT, RTF, plain text, HTML and Markdown. Mix them freely in one merge.

Where does the merged file go?

Into the same folder as the first file you selected, named merged-N-pdfs followed by the date. Your originals are untouched.

Will it overwrite a merge I already made?

Never. A second one the same day gets an -a, then -b, and so on. Ricly does not replace a file that already carries the name.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. The merge runs on your Mac. Ricly checks your account and your remaining allowance, so it needs the network, but the documents themselves never leave.

How many files can I merge at once?

As many as you select — the picker shows them all as thumbnails. It is still one merge against your monthly count.
